Brit Off to a Mental Hospital?

Sources tell TMZ the "responsible" people in Britney's life are trying to convince her to voluntarily enter a mental hospital.

We're told there's now a consensus -- she'll never get custody of her kids unless she undergoes intensive, in-patient treatment for what appears to be a severe bipolar disorder. But we're told Spears is resisting and does not want to enter a hospital.

And sources say that since her release from Cedars, Brit has "pulled it together, at least on the surface." She is coherent and engaged, but will not voluntarily enter a mental facility -- at least for now.

211. Grandma2 it's nice to hear a mature voice here. Of course it's sad to see ayoung mother do this to herself and her children but she is the only one who can fix this. many people feel she is a borderline personality with narcisstic and histrionic features. Not bipolar, the new popular catch all after ADD. But no one knows because she hasn't even bothered to seek a diagosis to better understand why this is happening to her. The symptom is part of the diseas. like addiction, denial is part of it. She has also componded thiswith her drug use.

By the way you can get things so won't test positive!!! People in jail and on probation do it all the time. Do you think Sam and her Dad don;t know that?????

213. She doesn't need hospitalization. She needs to go and talk to a psychiatrist in an office.

216. Isn't it interesting, how women are labeled as crazy for acting out, yet when men do the same, or even worse, they are not.
Men may go to jail, if their actions prove violent enough, or they have broken laws, but a woman is usually called crazy and in need of psychiatric evaluation.

Let me see...Britney shaved her head; overstepped her custodial parental curfew time; got pissed off with an umbrella at some people who were harrassing her; and forgot to wear her underwear (deliberately, or not deliberately) one time; and accidentally ran over some paparrazi's foot because he was dangerously hunting her down with his camera and got too close to the car. He also refused to move, every time she tried to get him to move. Ok, yes, she must be crazy, right?

Well until a shrink with credible credentials can determine that (and not just some quack), then perhaps I will be convinced. Until then, my guess is just that she is too immature at her age, and should never had children, until she decided partying down like a teenager was all over for her.

In the meantime, we have public officials, and many others who do worse then she has in society, and they walk away. Many even consider them just outspoken or whatever, but never crazy. And of course men drunk while watching football games, who get aggressive both physically and verbally, are just deemed 'good ole boys.'

Yep...I SEE THE BIASED PICTURE CLEARLY HERE....SOME THINGS IN OUR SOCIETY NEVER CHANGE, DO THEY?

217. LOL...YEAH. Actually, they were all comments made earlier, yet were not posted. I did not know I had to validate the posts via my e-mail first, so when I returned from work tonight, I saw all the e-mails in my box, and just clicked on confirm. They were not all suppose to post consecutively. Sorry about that! LOL

224. People!!! I just wish America would be more understanding of people who have a mental illness. Sure, things from the outside(all of us here) are going to look strange. Everything Britney is doing right now is fueled by bipolar disorder. Im not a psychologist, but I too have bipolar disorder, and I know it very well. I know the highs and lows. I know that when I have manic episodes, I almost lose much thought to what Im doing. When Im depressed, sometimes it gets so bad I consider suicide. So Im sure everything that she's been through this year has sent her spiraling into mania and depression. She is going to need serious medications, and serious therapy to help her. Instead of knocking her down, just think about what your saying before you comment or speak, this is not some lazy persons disorder. Its just as serious as cancer, or diabetes. It's something your given to deal with. And trust me, it aint easy! If you educate yourself about the disoder, you will learn A LOT!
